About Emily

Emily Welch is a Shreveport, Louisiana based artist.

With the whimsical and playful strokes of her paintbrush and a splash of color, Emily Welch creates art to celebrate the welcoming spirit of the South. Raised in Baton Rouge and now living in Shreveport with her husband, two children, and dog, Magnolia II, Emily wanted to pay homage to the unique spirit of the places she's always called home.

Emily began her work as a professional artist after receiving a BFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Her career took her Shreveport where she worked as an award winning agency graphic designer for fifteen years. She left the agency life to become a visual art teacher with the Caddo Parish Talented Arts Program as well as opening her own art studio, Magnolia Creative Co.

Emily has worked with numerous clients on both business and personal commissions. She has created illustrations for First Lady Laura Bush and had her art exhibited in national and regional press. She has also guest curated and been a featured artist at The R. W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport. Her debut children’s book will be released by Pelican Publishing in September 2024 followed by an illustrated Southern “Field Guide” to be released by Quatro Press in November of 2024.
